GEOTHERMAL ENERGY

|
Using the earth’s core
heat and transforming it into electrical energy is known as geothermal
energy. “Flash” technology and
“binary” technology are the two different geothermal technologies that are
used to generate electrical energy.
Water is pumped from below the ground where it is greatly pressurized
into a geothermal plant. As the water
is released into the plant it “flashes” into steam. That steam is used to power a conventional
turbine generator. This whole process
is “flash” technology. The generators
then convert electrical energy from mechanical energy. “Binary” technology is
doing the same process just using reserves of water that have lower
temperatures. |
